November 2009

There are two exciting new items at FlowersFlowers this month….a new line of glass vases and paperwhite and amaryllis bulbs.

FlowersFlowers has a brand new line of vases, for your home….lots of bud vases perfect for that special bloom, and great to line up several of the vases, all in one color with various shapes, or mix them up…..and also perfect for a gift! And, medium/larger vases, perfect for an arrangement to go just about anywhere, from kitchen to dining room to office. They’ve got a lot of style with very low prices! Come check them out.

And, our other big news is that it’s time to plant your indoor bulbs – we have paperwhites and amaryllis, and they’re from the best supplier in Holland, and consistently produce big beautiful blooms!

October 2009

We have seen a trend towards having weddings in September and October, and though the weather in the Chicago area can vary from hot and sunny to cold and rainy at this time of year, it’s a great time to have a wedding! Of course, any time is a great time for a wedding. 🙂

And, just because it’s fall doesn’t mean the flowers need to be autumnal! Here’s a couple of recent photos from some of our recent weddings.

And, FlowersFlowers has a new chuppah! Its got a wonderful prairie style architectural look, and we think that many Jewish couples will love to use this for their wedding day, whether it’s decorated simply with just a talis, or more elaborately with flowers and tulle.

September 2009

Labor Day is behind us, and the big, lush, hardy mums in the front of the shop signify that fall is arriving; they’re in shades of burgundies and red, yellows and butterscotch. These plants look perfect in urns in front of your home, or in simple baskets on a front porch.

With the days getting shorter and the nights getting cooler, Mother Nature has made a significant transition from summer flowers to fall flowers. The store is filled with shades of oranges and reds and purples.

The hydrangea colors are in transition from the pure pinks and lavenders to the multi-colored antique varieties. Whether you like greens/reds or blues/purples, there’s sure to be a hydrangea variety to love.

And, did we say BERRIES?!?!? We have rose hips, aronia berries, privet, hypericum, and they vary in shades from chartreuse green to reds and oranges to the color of a blueberry. Many berries have all sorts of health benefits, but these will be beneficial to your decor!
The store is filled with gorgeous bright fall colors….let your senses be delighted with red celosia, orange callas, pink zinnias, and much much more.

As the days get cooler, be sure to bring flowers inside to enjoy!

August 2009

Welcome to the first blog from FlowersFlowers!

Summertime brings the most beautiful Dutch hydrangea to the shop; you’ll see lovely, lush blooms in pinks, lavenders and blues, as well as in antique shades which are almost too gorgeous to describe with their multi colored hues.

In addition to flowers from Holland, at this time of year, we are able to have local Midwest flowers! The local beauties include cranberry viburnum, Annabelle hydrangea, zinnias, salvia, ageratum, and much more, with changes every week, depending upon what the local growers are growing and what’s ready for them to pick.
Our customers are always asking where the flowers come from – and, at this time of year, they truly are arriving from all over the world! The cymbidium orchids are coming from New Zealand, the mokara orchids from Thailand, the dahlias are from California, the roses are from South America.

Whether you’re looking for flowers to brighten your kitchen, to send to your sweetheart, or to make your wedding day memorable, there’s a wide selection to select from in August.

Thank you for joining me in my first blog!
